Because Life is Better at the Lake

Deep Roots CSA offers Fresh and Locally Sourced Food

My name is Nicole Sprabary. I am a mom, first and foremost and raise my daughters in the Cedar Creek Lake community. I am a transplant from just Northwest of the Lake and look forward to spending the rest of my life here. I am a freelance writer and blogger, wanting to speak truth and greatness into our community in hopes of creating a ripple of good throughout our small lake towns.

Our very own Community Supported Agriculture or CSA, is gearing up for the Spring season coming up that will enable locals to get farm fresh fruits, veggies, herbs, eggs and with add on meats from one farm, on a weekly basis from locally sourced farms and farmers.

A CSA is, “A way to purchase local, seasonal food directly from your farmer. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a subscription) and in return receive a box of high quality, fresh picked produce each week for a determined amount of time. One benefit to this is a direct relationship with your local farmers and knowing exactly where and how your food is grown.”

The website states, “Deep Roots CSA has been formed by 3 local farmers who have built a relationship between themselves and the communities they serve. We all have a desire to produce healthy, clean food for our local folks and doing it together allows us to serve more of you. Each farm has additional products they offer and those will be available for our customers as well.”

Chandler Family Farm located in Mabank, Highway 19 Produce and Berries as well as Gopher Knoll Farm, both located in Athens partner together to produce an amazing opportunity for the community. All offer non-gmo and organic options that are the cleanest and freshest available.

There are several options for sizes that are available, personal, half and full share. They can be purchased in advance for the 8-week spring season or 16 week increments to include spring and summer. Each box will have a variety of options each week.

They will have two options for pick up that will be in Mabank and Athens, on Tuesdays of each week starting April 3 of this year and going through the spring and summer season.

Three shares options:
Personal Share (1 person) $15 per week
Half Share (1-2 people) $25 per week
Full Share (3-4 people) $40 per week
