Special Easter events galore are underway on Cedar Creek Lake this weekend.
On Good Friday a group of youths dressed in Biblical attire accompanied by a Liberty Baptist Church leader carrying a wooden cross filed down Main Street in Gun Barrel City reminding people it was the day Jesus died. The children handed out church literature, along with invitations to the church's Easter pageant.
The Gun Barrel City church at Highway 198 and Manning Street will stage a live sketch called, "Jesus, Which Is, Which Was and Which Is To Come," on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Easter Sunday 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Other scheduled special Easter services include:
* the 18th annual Easter sunrise services at Melton Rock, which is a mountain rising 700 feet above sea level 5 miles outside of Eustace on the Old Prairieville Athens Road near FM 1861. The service begins at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday.
* the First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City will stage a musical drama called, "There Stands a Cross" Sunday at 10 a.m.
* the Christian Life Center Church in Gun Barrel City will host an Easter egg hunt on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include games for children and a petting zoo.
* St. Jude Catholic Church will stage an Easter egg hunt on Sunday at 10:15 a.m.
* Celebration on the Lake Church in Payne Springs will feature a dramatic rendition of Luke's gospel account of the Resurrection on Sunday at 10 a.m. It is located on Highway 198 across from the Pinnacle Club entrance.
* After church and hunting for Easter eggs, Whatz- Up Family Fun Park will be open all day Sunday. It is loaded with attractions including, Batting Cages, Bumper Cars, Go-Karts, Kiddie Cars, Lazer Tag, Miniature Golf, Paintball, Rockwall, and a large Arcade.
