Henderson County approves permit for work on Integrated Pipeleine Project in Cedar Creek Lake area

Work on the Integrated Pipeline Project that is expected to take 20 years to complete could begin in the Cedar Creek Lake area soon.

The Henderson County Commissioners Court approved a floodplain permit to connect Cedar Creek Lake with the Tarrant Regional Water Regional District July 19. The project will include an intake well on the lake and a tunnel under the Trinity River.

The project is designed to transport water from Lake Palestine to communities in Tarrant and Dallas Counties.

Approval by state officials will also be required to finalize the provisional permit awarded by Henderson County officials. County officials will review the plan a second time if state officials approve it.

The pipeline will cross Precincts 1 and 4 in Henderson County, and other permits will be needed as the project continues.

The pipeline will eventually run 150 miles from Lake Palestine to Lake Benbrook and connect to Cedar Creek Lake and Richland-Chambers Lake.

Cedar Creek Lake is a reservoir for Tarrant Regional Water District built in the mid-1960s.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 8)

EXCELLENT. Slightly stained; 75 degrees; 0.51 feet above pool. Start fishing for hybrids and white bass early in the morning at daylight and hit the dam or the western shorelines of the lake and look for schooling fish close to seawalls and shorelines. After that fish any hump in depths of 22-28 feet throughout the lake to find fish stacked up in schools. Use spinner baits or drop a slab down to the bottom and work it fast up and down. The fish will hit it immediately. The crappie bite has been increasingly better. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. Blue catfish are shallow on shad and some moving to humps in 6-18 feet on cut shad. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
