The Kemp City Council has increased the number of garage sales permitted per year, but it banned the activity on Sundays.
The council increased the number of garage sales allowed per year Aug. 10 from two to four, limited them to three consecutive days from sunrise to sunset and forbid them on Sundays.
Mayor Laura Hanna Peace said in a previous meeting Sundays should be reserved for other family-oriented activities, and a couple of residents attending the meeting agreed with her.
Residents wanting to conduct garage sales must obtain permits from City Hall in advance.
The council revisited the issue of garage sales because of complaints from residents who thought two per year was too restrictive.
