There are reports circulating in the DFW area, that the mumps are going around very close to Cedar Creek Lake in Dallas and surrounding counties.
What has been traced back and found to have started in Johnson county, has now been found to have spread into Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant Counties.
Knowledge is key in situations like this. As well as proactive prevention, including but not limited to, washing hands, not sharing utensils, as well as the most obvious, staying away from as much as possible or avoiding affected people or areas where a known outbreak is occurring all together.
"Mumps is a contagious disease caused by a virus. It typically starts with a few days of fever, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, and loss of appetite, followed by swollen salivary glands" according to the CDC.
Wikipedia states that "Mumps, also known as epidemic parotitis, is a viral disease caused by the mumps virus" and that "Humans are the only natural host for the virus."
Symptoms usually start 16-18 days after exposure to infected person or via respiratory secretions. Infected people may or may not have shown symptoms because a third of the population that gets the mumps, have mild, or no symptoms after being infected by the disease. A person is most contagious 5 days after the onset of symptoms.
There is a vaccination Called MMR ll, which is a registered trademark of Merck & Co. INC.
Before you run out and get the vaccination for yourself or a loved one, inform yourself as to what the Mumps signs and symptoms are vs. the reactions of the vaccination itself.
Mumps are NOT 100% preventable even if you opt into the vaccination schedule so unless you have actually had the disease itself, in which case your own immune system, will have built an immunity and therefore the person should not get it a second time.
According to the website thinktwice.com, who state very clearly that they give "uncensored information about vaccines and how they affect our children" says that "Prior to the introduction of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccines, thousands of cases of measles, mumps and rubella occurred every year. Today, these numbers are greatly reduced. However, unlike the natural diseases, the MMR vaccine does not confer permanent immunity. For example, measles epidemics regularly occur in vaccinated populations."
So it makes me wonder, which is worse, getting the mumps, or getting the vaccine that may or may not prevent the mumps to begin with.
The Center for Disease control, also known as the CDC, informs us on their website:
https://www.cdc.gov/mumps/outbreaks.html tells us that,
"MMR vaccine prevents most, but not all, cases of mumps and complications caused by the disease. Two doses of the vaccine are 88% (range: 66 to 95%) effective at protecting against mumps; one dose is 78% (range: 49% to 92%) effective. The MMR vaccine protects against currently circulating mumps strains. Outbreaks can still occur in highly vaccinated U.S. communities, particularly in close-contact settings. In recent years, outbreaks have occurred in schools, colleges, and camps. However, high vaccination coverage helps limit the size, duration, and spread of mumps outbreaks."
However, that is still a 12-24% chance of vaccinated children getting the mumps. As well as on the Food and drug administration website, they give the following information in regards to adverse reactions and "are listed in decreasing order of severity, without regard to causality, within each body system category and have been reported during clinical trials, with use of the marketed vaccine, or with use of monovalent or bivalent vaccine containing measles, mumps, or rubella: Body as a Whole Panniculitis; atypical measles; fever; syncope; headache; dizziness; malaise; irritability." Along with at least 20 more reactions that are all the way to the last listed reaction, of death.
For those that do not know, the second listed reaction, is "Atypical measles, which is a new phenomenon only in the vaccinated" and "is less well known to the general public that vaccinated children started developing an especially vicious form of measles, due to the altered host immune response caused by the deleterious effect of the measles vaccines. It resisted all orthodox treatment and carried a high mortality rate."
Why the measles?
Although The mumps vaccination can be given in a single dose, it is most commonly found in the MMR combination and now MMRV, which now includes the Varicella live dose that is available for an even more "convenient" way to give children their vaccination doses.
According to the manufacturer of the MMR ll, Merck's website, "The growth medium for measles and mumps is Medium 199 (a buffered salt solution containing vitamins and amino acids and supplemented with fetal bovine serum) containing SPGA (sucrose, phosphate, glutamate, and recombinant human albumin) as stabilizer and neomycin"
Google a few of those ingredients for further, very interesting information, as to what we are injecting our children with. If, you choose to be pro vaccination.
Currently, there are two pending lawsuits alleging Merck & Co. – the pharmaceutical company that sells the MMR vaccine under the name MMR II – "hid or misrepresented facts about how well the vaccine lasts and how well it works."

Whether you believe in pro vaccinations or anti vaccinations, the threat of the mumps so close to Cedar Creek, is an imminent one and one not to be taken lightly.
Any disease or virus going around, could inadvertently affect both the vaccinated and non, with the same symptoms across the board and possibly the risks being higher for vaccinated due to the altered host immune response. Along with affecting young, elderly and everyone in between.
