2 county judges to call it quits

David Webb is a veteran journalist who has written for the mainstream and alternative media for three decades. He is now a freelancer who lives in the Cedar Creek Lake area.




Henderson County Judge Richard Sanderson recently announced he would not seek a third term after his second four- year term ends Dec. 31, 2018.


Kaufman County Judge Bruce Wood made a similar announcement earlier in the summer. He also will be completing two terms when he retires.


Filing for political party primaries begin in November 2017. Both Sanders and Wood ran as Republicans.


The position of county judge held by the two men are administrative positions overseeing commissioners court meetings and managing county business.

Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report from TPWD (Aug. 15)

Water lightly stained; 83–87 degrees, 1.56’ low. Black bass are slow on shakyhead worms, spinnerbaits and Texas rigged craws. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on slabs and topwaters.
