Because Life is Better at the Lake

Starbucks Might Show a Sign of Economic Boom

Many citizens around Cedar Creek Lake have seen the old Chicken place tore down and a Starbucks emerge near Wal-Mart. Lots of questions are being brought to the surface from plans for the one way turn out at the exit along with worries of the strategic placement in front of Coffee Love.

Some are even going as far as saying they wish another type of store came to town, Dunkin Donuts, Steak-n-Shake while a few others support and cannot wait to be one of the first customers. One saying her gift card is ready and waiting for the Gun Barrel City location to open.

Another example is Entrepreneur Eric Tindall has plans for a new development that include 88 units named Cedar Creek Cottages at Seven Points. A 2.7 million dollar investment into units geared towards, “millennials and empty nesters.” An all bills paid unit would cost approximately $600 a month for a 214-314 sq. ft. cottage that will include a full bath and kitchenette.

That is only two to name several across the Lake area where a new business has already broke ground or will shortly after the New Year pending approvals.
Around the lake, we have seen numerous political signs that express the upcoming vote are imminent. Many of these candidates have already started meeting and greeting citizens at various locations. Whoever is elected, will have an impact on policy to our surrounding area for not only their term of service, but years to come as well. Each candidate has one topic eerily similar, bringing more jobs to the area and the economic stability in the area.

Will the two correlate as policy or ordinance change is brought before the next elected officials to consider in the future? What vote will they choose when something is brought before them? According to the March 28, 2017 Gun Barrel City agenda, Braums is on the way to the Lake area as well.

Are these signs the economy is going to boom soon as a few members of society have already speculated? Candidate for Commissioner Pct. 2 David Conner explains the Lake area, having so many benefits and relative location to Dallas, will see growth very soon.

Learning the stance of our current elected official is one of the key elements before voting for a candidate who is running for next term in office. As citizens, we have to have an understanding that our vote influences not only our lives, but also those lives around us in who we choose to vote for and how they run their office. Before Starbucks even broke ground, a vote was considered and made for that business to be able to come to town. Not to mention the Economic Development had consideration somewhere. Gun Barrel City had a public hearing, heard and discussed a parcel of property in Gun Barrel City for Braums as well. It matters to know what it going on in our community.

As of 2016, Henderson County had a total population of 79,901 and has 49,643 registered voters. 28,516 of those voted in the last election, while approximately 88% of the total population is of age to vote. When they say that every vote counts, those statistics reflect, a small percentage, is voting for the entire community.

Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report from TPWD (Jul. 1)

EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 0.46 low. Largemouth bass are good working topwater plugs early on lake points, grass lines, brushy cover, shaky heads, tube baits, and wacky rigs later in the day along deeper creek banks, drop-offs, and timber in 12-28’. Hybrids and sand bass are off main lake points and humps with slabs, swimbaits, and rooster tails. Crappie are excellent with jigs and minnows in brush piles and near structure in 12-25’. Catfish are excellent in 12-25’. Live bait and cut bait are working well.
