Cedar Creek Lake counties see increases in taxable property values

The Henderson and Kaufman Counties Commissioners Courts and most other taxing entities’ officials will enjoy more latitude in budget decisions for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.

The Henderson County Appraisal District announced a 3.56 percent increase in total taxable value. The total taxable value rose to almost $6 billion.

Kaufman County's Appraisal District announced a 13 percent increase with the total taxable value reaching $8 billion.

In adjacent Van Zandt County the total taxable value remained stagnant except for increases in a few spots.

Most taxing entities, including school districts and cities, will realize increases in revenues at the current tax rates. Officials could lower tax rates or choose to expand budgets.

The taxable value increases in Henderson and Kaufman Counties follow the same trend seen in Dallas and Tarrant counties and their surrounding counties, but the DFW area values rose more dramatically.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 24)

EXCELLENT. Water slightly stained; 77 degrees; 1.71 feet below pool. Consistently finding the best hybrid action in 13-18 feet of water with slabs, and spinnerbaits using the proven saw tooth retrieve technique. Trolling spoons with a hellbender set-up at 3 mph in 13-17 feet of water is absolutely crushing the white bass on several humps throughout the lake. As water temperatures decrease into the low 70s we will target big hybrids on shallow ledges and humps with Alabama rigs. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck's Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. The catfish pattern will remain consistent until cooler weather arrives. Catfish are good anchoring on humps in 12-24 feet fishing small shad or cut shad on the bottom. Drifting larger cut bait like carp, drum or big gizzard shad on flats in 10-25 feet throughout the lake. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
