Kaufman County honors native son

by

Kaufman County recently honored a Vietnam veteran by naming a bridge in his honor in an August 2017 ceremony.

The SSG Robert E. Cochran Memorial Bridge on State Highway 34 connects Kaufman and Ellis Counties.

Cochran, a native of Rosser, was killed at age 26 March 10, 1968. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his heroic actions taking out three armed bunkers that threated his platoon.

His death occurred during his fourth tour in Vietnam.
