Elections with propositions and opposed candidates will be held in Kemp, Eustace, Gun Barrel City, Star Harbor and the independent school districts of Kemp and Scurry on the May 6, 2017, ballots.
Candidates on ballots in Caney City, Mabank, Log Cabin, Seven Points, Malakoff and the independent school districts of Eustace and Mabank are unopposed.
Early voting began April 24 and runs through May 2.
In Kemp, voters will decide whether to continue dedicating a quarter percent of local sales tax revenue to road repairs.
In Eustace, Mayor Elisha Sanders faces challenger Dustin Shelton. Councilman Daniel Smith and challengers Carolyn Brammer and Tim Meyer will compete for two seats on the City Council.
In Gun Barrel City, Councilwoman Linda Rankin will face challenger Craig Bastas.
In Star Harbor, council members Duane Smith, Jackie Robinson and Warren Claxton will defend their seats from challenger Ray Batten.
In Kemp ISD, board member Rusty Clamon faces challengers Gabe Hatch, Casey Herring and Stepphanie Orton.
In Scurry ISD, board members Joanne Horton and Christi Taliaferro will defend their seats against challenger Nick Vann.
