Mabank Cafe operates in an old bank building, and the restaurant?s decor and food are also reminiscent of days past. The atmosphere is homey and friendly, and the daily specials are similar to what families sat down to around the dinner table in earlier decades. Chicken fried steak, fried catfish, meat loaf, hamburger steak smothered with onions, baked pork chops and the like are typical entrees. Vegetables include mashed potatoes, carrots, pinto beans, cabbage, corn, collard greens and fried okra. At the same time, you can choose to order hamburgers, a classic BLT, club sandwich, a grilled cheese or other sandwich. Salads, soups and chili, along with steaks and shrimp dot the menu. Mabank Cafe is at 303 N. 3rd St., Mabank, TX 75147. Call 903-887-0177. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
